Foraging is a growing interest in our society and more people are searching for ways to obtain food in a self reliant manner. It is essential to be sure we are foraging safely, ethically, and without causing damage to our landscape. Every season and landscape offers unique and nutritious plants to eat and prepare as medicine! Join us for a walk with Tim of Owl Eyes Wilderness to explore Rome Conservation Area and learn about the edible plants all around us.  Let’s go on a walk and learn about the most local, organic, and free food in our area!

Tim will go over foraging ethics, safety guidelines, plant ID techniques, respectful harvesting, and a variety of edible plants found in the landscape.

We will be hiking through varied terrain, on and off trail, up to 1 mile. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking, please also bring your own water.

Please register as space is limited.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Gardner Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
