Event Type

If you’ve been out on our trails recently, you might have noticed that there are plenty of mushrooms around this season! That makes a perfect recipe for a fungi walk. North County Land Trust will be hosting just such a walk at Kirby Conservation Area. Author, mycologist, and ethnographer Lawrence Millman lead our previous fungi walk and is returning to lead another at Kirby Conservation Area. He has published 16 books and given talks for NPR, Icelandic Radio, Boston University, and many other places. We will explore the wacky world of mushrooms, and learn about how they live and why they are important in the forest ecosystem. Join us on October 10th for this FUN-gi event, rain or shine. Please note, this is not a workshop on edible mushrooms. This free event is recommended for ages 16 and up, because of the level and detail of content. Space is limited, so please register below.

To get to Kirby Conservation Area, head north on Rindge Turnpike, then turn right on to Wilker Road. Continue until Wilker turns sharply to right, then turn left to access Kirby Conservation Area. There is no trail head parking area, but parking is allowed on the roadside.
