Event Type

The Shirley Greenway Committee, Shirley Historical Society, and North County Land Trust (NCLT) present an afternoon highlighting the history of Shirley’s public trail system.

At 1PM, a presentation at the Shirley Historical Society Museum will chronicle the early life of Appalachian Trail creator Benton MacKaye and his influence on Shirley’s trails. At 2:30PM, participants can then walk or drive to The Trustees’ Farandnear property for a foliage walk, following a route mapped by MacKaye, led by NCLT’s Faith Salter.

Thank you to the Shirley Greenway Committee for putting this program together!

If you would like to attend the walk, please register. Attending only the presentation does not require registration. The walk will be held rain or shine, so prepare for the weather. Wear close-toed shoes and layers. You may appreciate having water.
