This month, Jay Janell will lead us on a guided walk on our newest trail system at Peabody Conservation Area. This property’s trails were opened this year. The Peabody Land was acquired by the North County Land Trust in 2016.  In addition to farming, the Peabody family once made shoes here.  The 22 acre property straddles the Mulpus Brook.  We will explore natural features of the land as well as evidence of human activity over the last 200 years.  What is the mysterious stone structure along the “stone bridge” trail?  Why is there a large berm along the bank of the Mulpus?  What is special about the stone walls?  We will provide some answers and pose more questions along the way.

This free event is open to the public and suitable for all ages. The loop is easy to moderate difficulty. Please park at the Lane Conservation Area on Holman street. The Tenderness Trail crosses private property to reach the conservation area and starts just across the street.
