Event Type

Any natural space – including your garden, lawn, or window box – can become a refuge for native species. Making space at home for native plants connects us to wilder spaces and provides important habitat and food for many native species. Need inspiration? Come explore the beautiful native plant garden at the home of NCLT board member Ben Howard.

At NCLT, we know that native species need a helping hand, and we work hard on restoring native habitats. Your contributions support the removal of invasive plants, the re-establishment of native species, and guided interpretive programs at our properties. When you register, please consider making a donation in support of our mission to conserve land and connect people to nature in north central Massachusetts.

Tour highlights include:

  • Four “Miyawaki Pocket Forests” (https://www.sugiproject.com/blog/miyawaki-method-for-creating-forests – Over 100 different native trees & shrubs!)
  • Five established native grass & wildflower meadows (Lupine & Daisy should be peak flowering!)
  • Many “succession” group tree plantings
  • Mixed Cut flower, vegetable, and native wildflower garden
  • Many different approaches to invasive management

New this year: Ready to plant your own pollinator garden? Red Trillium Gardens will be there to help you get started!

Parking will be located at Turkey Hill Elementary School, 129 Northfield Road, Lunenburg, MA, a short walk from Ben’s house.

By registering, you consent to receive occasional emails and newsletters from North County Land Trust.
