Partnership firefly data collection with Xerces Society continues at Dwelly Farm Conservation Area!
Join Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation conservation biologist Richard Joyce and NCLT Director of Land Programs Emily Merlino for our last firefly field night of the year at Dwelly Farm Conservation Area. As part of our firefly sanctuary designation at Dwelly Farm, we are documenting the property’s firefly species and assessing its habitats. For this outing we will be looking for some late season flashing fireflies and glowing firefly larvae. Join us to learn more about our local firefly species and contribute data to the firefly atlas!
We recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves, and a hat – bring a bug net if you will be more comfortable with one. If you are planning to wear bug spray please apply it near your vehicle before you meet up with the group. Please wear footwear you will be comfortable in on uneven terrain in the dark.
