The Quarry Lane Pocket Park is well on its way to welcoming neighbors and community members later this summer. A two-session volunteer day at the park on June 7th accomplished an amazing feat of planting 26 native shrubs and ferns, including a few massive Rhododendrons (can you say BIG holes to dig?!). This planting day was a great step towards creating a natural and peaceful space for neighbors, Busy Bees Preschool students and their families, and the greater Fitchburg community to enjoy native plants and spend time outdoors. Throughout the day we had visits from Busy Bees staff and students to cheer on volunteers and pizza to power the group through!
This project has been generously funded by MassDevelopment/TDI and the Barr Foundation. This program is one component of a broader “TDI Creative Cities” initiative to boost arts-based economic development. North County Land Trust is grateful for their support to create this special place for the community to enjoy.
