LEOMINSTER, MA—North County Land Trust (NCLT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Faith Salter as its new Executive Director, effective Monday, October 21. Salter will be the third Executive Director in the organization’s 32-year history of protecting natural lands and expanding access to nature across 16 communities in north central Massachusetts.
Salter brings over two decades of experience from the Appalachian Mountain Club, where she most recently served as Vice President of Learning and Volunteer Engagement. In this role, Salter managed more than 2,000 volunteers across 11 chapters with oversight for chapter operations, training, succession management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Her leadership focused on building a community of outdoor enthusiasts who engage because of their love of the natural world.
“Faith is exceptionally well-suited to lead North County Land Trust,” said Ben Howard, President of North County Land Trust. “Our mission is built around community, and Faith not only shares deep ties to this region but brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for conservation. Her leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our community and connection to the natural world.”
Founded in 1992, North County Land Trust is dedicated to conserving land and enhancing public access to nature in 16 cities and towns across north central Massachusetts. Salter joins NCLT during a critical time, as the organization advances its three-year strategic plan to conserve 1,500 acres of land, along with other ambitious goals outlined in The Growth Project—a key initiative focused on climate resilience and local conservation.
“For decades, North County Land Trust has played an essential role in safeguarding our environment and supporting our communities,” said Salter. “At this pivotal moment for conservation, I am deeply honored to lead this organization and continue its important work.”
Salter will be introduced as the new Executive Director at NCLT’s Annual Gathering, taking place on Thursday, October 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The 228 in Sterling, MA. Registration is required. For more details, visit northcountylandtrust.org/events/ag2024.
