This is the second event in our yoga series, with Stephanie Lizotte, owner of Simply Grounded Yoga/Pilates. Research shows that hiking in green spaces with trees and wooded areas can reduce anxiety, stress and depression, and pairing these effects with the calming and rejuvenating power of yoga can help us all to find more peace. In the first session we took a gentle stroll and practices relaxing poses such as mountain pose and tree pose to become grounded and still.
In this second session, “Explore and Energize”, we will offer the chance for another kind of outdoor yoga experience. Similarly involving components of hiking and yoga, this event will provide the opportunity to bring a little heat and play to the group with the chance to try out more intermediate to challenging poses. Adults, teens, and anyone who is looking for a more physically engaging activity may be especially well-suited to this second session. This event is still open to beginners and people of all skill levels, as modifications will be made available as needed.
What to expect: Participants are asked to gather at the trailhead/parking lot area. All are encouraged to bring a towel, (backpack is preferred) dress comfortably in hiking attire, and bring water. The stroll is for all levels but, please reach out if you have any concerns or want to know more about trail conditions. We will walk for about 20-30 minutes before stopping to do some Yoga stretches, then we’ll walk about 15 minutes back to the parking lot. The event will be 90 minutes total. Please bring bug spray and anything else you may need.
Registration is required. This event will be from 6-7:30pm on August 6th. We will meet at Crocker Conservation Area at 215 Flat Rock Rd, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Please dress accordingly for the weather and activities. If you have questions about what to bring please reach out to info@northcountylandtrust.org. Suggested donation for this event is $15.
