2020 VIRTUAL Annual Gathering
On October 23, 2020, North County Land Trust presented the annual gathering in the a different way, virtually! While we were unable to gather in person we were grateful for the time to pause and reflect together. Richelle Brown, NCLT President and Board Chair, set the tone by reflecting on those that make our work possible: the volunteers, our members, the board and staff. She noted that it takes all of us working together to make a stronger and more viable future for land conservation in north central Massachusetts. Next, our Executive Director, Anna Wilkins, reminded us that, “Our work in conservation benefits all of us and the generations that will come after us. We need a NCLT army of people to band together and work together to create a culture of conservation, give people the language that they need to describe the benefits and the reasons that the work that we do is so important and the land that we have to care for is so important. And to do this, we need to be patient, resilient. We need to remember the lessons from nature—everything is connected, nothing exists in isolation.”
During the gathering, NCLT invited the audience to view three short videos about projects from the previous year that highlight ways in which we work: our support for Community, Care for our land, and how we Collaborate to make projects happen. They are stories that inspire. Follow the links below to view each these videos:
- Community: “Just an Acre” on Quarry Lane
- Care: Dwelly Farm Management Project
- Collaboration: Burdin Conservation Restriction/Norcross Hill (featuring our partners from Mount Grace Conservation Land Trust)
These videos are a production by our friends at TriTownProductions.
Each year the “You Rock” award recognizes volunteers who go above and beyond. For their hard work and dedication, we award them with– A rock, a special rock. This year’s “You Rock Award” was presented to Betty Reid and Mary Cringan for their dedication to many things, especially the Weekly Wednesday Walks. Take a look at the following video as we surprised them with the award while out on a walk at Crocker Conservation Area for the “You Rock” Volunteer Award.
Finally, at the close of the gathering we celebrated by dancing in our seats with special music guest, the Adam Ezra Group! We are grateful to them and Rally Sound for their support and their gift of music.
If you were unable to join us for our annual gathering or want to watch it again you are in luck! You can find it here in its entirety:
