A First Day hike is a long standing tradition for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. It is a way to welcome the start of a new year and set the ball rolling for adventures in nature all year long. While we are all keeping up with social distancing to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe, an in-person First Day hike might not be possible this year. However, that shouldn’t stop you from hiking your way into the New Year. All you have to do is hike on January 1st!
This year we suggest taking the paths less traveled and discovering new trails you may not have hiked before. Check out the conservation areas nearby, try a new trail loop, and keep your eyes open for the beauty of winter around you.
We would love to see your favorite photo from your First Day hike and we will post them on our Facebook page – the most “liked” photo will win an NCLT Klean Kanteen! Email your photo to info@northcountylandtrust.org or message us on Facebook with your name and location the photo was taken. We will post photos on our Facebook beginning Jan 2 and a winner will be announced on Jan 5th!
Happy New Year and Happy Hiking!
