On September 16th North County Land Trust participated in United Way’s annual Day of Caring at Dwelly Farm Conservation Area. With the help of 24 volunteers and NCLT staff we were able to accomplish an outstanding amount of work on two projects at Dwelly. Half of the team worked to spread wood chips around the pollinator field to create a clear and comfortable walking path which will protect the native plants in the field and provide an established walking path for visitors to admire the native habitat that has been created. The second half of the team worked to daylight the stone wall between the two back fields and haul brush away, creating a classic New England visual focal point along the field as well as create more accessibility to manage the invasive glossy buckthorn in the field and along the wall. Thank you to IC Credit Union and Garden Remedies for sending along their crews to us, and thank you to all of the volunteers for the extraordinary efforts and positive attitudes throughout the day!
