SUMMARY:Nature Journaling Workshop - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:With a combination of instruction time\, questions and answers\
 , and field time making notes and sketches\, the workshop group will learn
  ideas and skills\, then put them to use outdoors. Artist and teacher Marg
 aret McCandless will provide instruction\, encouragement\, and examples of
  field notebooks and nature journals. These kinds of journals are kept by 
 some hikers\, birdwatchers\, and more. Margaret will teach the ideas\, dis
 pel fears\, and give practice to the skills. This can empower participants
  to begin keeping nature journals themselves\, or to expand the kinds of a
 rtwork\, information\, and techniques that they include\, if they already 
 are drawing\, painting\, or writing field notes.  We'll have drawing tech
 niques\; the philosophy of observing\; the practice of being still and sil
 ent to allow wild creatures time around us\; ideas about planning images\,
  cropping scenes\, considering highlights\, uses of contrast in drawing\; 
 and more.\n\nThis is the first in a two session series\, the second sessio
 n will also be at Longview Conservation Area on June 3rd to give participa
 nts the opportunity to observe and journal with the changes of the new sea
 son. Participants for the first session will receive first opportunity to 
 register for the second session\, unfilled spots will be opened to the gen
 eral public for registration.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis program will be rain or s
 hine\, bring an umbrella if rain is predicted!  Bring your favorite drawi
 ng implements\, we will provide the paper.\n\n \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis program
