SUMMARY:Firefly Nights with Xerces Society at Dwelly Farm
DESCRIPTION:North County Land Trust is excited to embark on a pilot program
  with Xerces Society to establish Dwelly Farm Conservation Area as a firef
 ly sanctuary!\n\nFirefly sanctuaries are a relatively new concept to suppo
 rt protection of vitally important firefly habitat as many species populat
 ions and their habitats are in decline.  In keeping with our goals at Dwe
 lly\, to restore and bolster native habitat and share examples of how othe
 rs can too\, we are working together with Xerces Society to support our sm
 all glowing firefly friends.  To learn more about firefly sanctuaries you
  can read about them HERE.\n\nTo begin our work with Xerces we will have a
  kickoff week of 5 evenings at Dwelly with Xerces Society firefly conserva
 tion biologist Richard Joyce. Volunteers will assist with a firefly survey
 \, learning how to collect data for the Xerces Society's Firefly Atlas com
 munity science project. The firefly field nights will take place between s
 unset (8:30 PM) and about 10:30 PM. Volunteers should come prepared for wa
 lking in low-light conditions on uneven terrain.\n\nPlease register for a
